Writer Overhaul Details

All our technicians are factory certified!

AN OVERHAUL/REFURBISHMENT CONSISTS OF:
-
The Writer is checked for the current settings, a basic diagnostics is performed and any problems are noted.
-
We then completely disassemble the steno writer. This ensures that all the old grease and oil can be removed from virtually every location on the mechanism.

-
The case is examined for damage. Many times, the cases are cracked or damaged from drops or falls, or rough handling. You may not even be aware of this damage, as it is usually not noticeable from the outside of the machine. Depending on the amount of damage, we may be able to repair the shell, or contact you to discuss replacing the damaged parts.

-
New stop pads, bank bar pads, and universal bar pads are installed, factory specified adjustments are set and a new ribbon is installed.
-
During the final stages of assembly, the contacts are adjusted and a complete diagnostics is performed. This includes all of the following (as applicable):
-
Disk Drive is tested (format and operation)
-
Real-time is tested (letters, numbers, stenomarks.
-
Charging circuit is tested
-
Checked for acceptable noise levels
-
Finally the writer is then adjusted to meet and exceed factory specifications. As part of that testing our tech, who can write steno, tests the machine for the proper feel.
-
Only after all tests pass, is your machine polished and prepared for return.
