What are custom keytop options? Answer: Our machines are sold with straight keytops meaning that all the keys are the same width. Some schools, theories, or personal preferences require that one set or more of the keytops be extended or wider. When purchasing a writer the site requires you to select the keytop preferences. If you are not sure then just select straight keytops. You must select something in order to add the item to your cart.

How do I put my dictionary into the Stentura 8000 or 8000LX writer? Answer: Your dictionary must first be converted into the "stentura format" in order to be loaded on the writer. This is normally accomplished by using the conversion utility that is built into the CAT software. If you are using an older software like Premier Power, Xscribe 2001, Baron OZPC, etc. then the Stenograph Dictionary conversion 2.1 software will be needed. Just request the conversion software when ordering the Stentura 8000 with older CAT systems.

Will the Stenograph Mira writer work correctly with my software? Answer: There are some limitations when using the Mira with Eclipse or any other CAT software product. For a complete explanation you can read the following document entitled, Using Stenograph's Paperless Writers with Eclipse.

What is the difference between the Stentura 6000 and the Stentura 8000? Basically, the only difference is the capability of putting your dictionary in the 8000 and displaying a raw English translation. The 6000 will only display steno. This is also true of the 6000LX and 8000LX.

Can I trade-in my old writer? Yes, we will offer a trade-in value for any writer, including student writers and even writers that are not working.

If I purchase my own wide or straight key tops, can I install them myself? Yes, if you have some mechanical ability. For the directions please read "Self Installation of Keytops"
